In God We are One
We are all on a journey through life, seeking meaning to our existence, answers to the big questions, help and guidance. This is where we truly encounter God.
Worship is a time when we gather together as family and engage our souls. It offers us opportunities to collectively and individually express, our gratitude for the gifts of God's Creation; our longings, our concerns, our cares our sorrows. We seek guidance and instruction from those who have gone before and from those who share this journey with us. We discover and express that 'We are not Alone, we Live in God's World’.
If you decide to stop by for a Sunday morning visit, as our guest we hope you will:
- enjoy the music and feel comfortable enough to sing along
- dress however you feel comfortable (jeans, or more dressy – it doesn’t matter to us)
- linger after the service for coffee, tea or juice and give us the chance to meet you.
When you arrive you will be greeted at the door and handed a Bulletin. Like a theatre program, this tells you what will happen during the service and about other events happening at the church throughout the week. You will also be invited to sign the guest book.
The minister will give a sermon, which is a reflection or commentary on the day's scripture readings, current events, or life in general. There are several times for prayer during the service. We usually remain seated to pray.
Communion is served numerous times during the year, but not every Sunday. Participation is open to all people attending the service, but is not mandatory. An offering of money is collected to support the work of the church. There is no set amount; people give as they are able. This supports the local congregation (maintaining the building, providing programs, paying the minister and other staff), and also the work of the church around the world through the national Mission and Service Fund. If this is your first time visiting us, please consider yourself our guest and do not feel obligated to put anything in the offering plate.
