Film Screenings

Film 1: Mama Bears: Faith, Family, and Advocacy (2022)

Director: Daresha Kyi
Screening Time: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Panel Discussion: To follow

Mama Bears follows conservative Christian mothers whose lives change when their children come out as LGBTQIA+. Rooted deeply in faith, these women face painful questions and long-held beliefs—and ultimately choose love.

The film traces their journeys of spiritual wrestling, connection through online support spaces, and growing advocacy for their children, offering a moving picture of how faith can expand rather than divide.

Film 2: 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture (2022)

Director: Sharon “Rocky” Roggio
Screening Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Panel Discussion: To follow

Through a deeply personal lens, 1946 explores the origins of the word “homosexual” in modern English Bibles. The film traces its introduction to a 1946 mistranslation and examines how that moment shaped decades of Christian teaching and harm toward LGBTQIA+ people.

Featuring scholars, faith leaders, and activists, the documentary invites viewers to reconsider scripture, history, and what faithful inclusion can look like today.
