The Strategic Leadership Council (SLC) met on Tuesday evening, August 5, with all members present. We were especially pleased to welcome our new Treasurer, Tom Barichello, and our new Member-at-Large, Jennifer Adams.
Council also confirmed the appointment of Elpida Howard as our new Office Administrator, following Amanda’s relocation to Germany.
A fire drill will be held during worship on a Sunday in September—details to come.
The Finance Team is reviewing our current financial procedures to look for efficiencies. As part of this, Council has authorized the use of e-transfers and electronic fund transfers for some payments and reimbursements.
We are also working on a way to share SLC meeting minutes sooner. Because we meet only every two months, minutes are not officially approved until the following meeting. We hope to introduce a process that will allow them to be distributed earlier.
The Semi site is nearing completion. Trustees are arranging property and content insurance for the new space. Council will also be creating a small user group of congregational members to meet with our convenors, community agencies, and partners, to make recommendations on how the space will be used.
Finally, you may recall that in June we shared information on Catalyst’s Preliminary Viability Assessment (PVA) report regarding the potential redevelopment of the 24th Avenue site. Council is now discussing the report and other possibilities over the coming months.
