This 12-week study takes its name from the book by Brené Bown: The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are. Brown is a well-known writer and research professor who has brought her work in the areas of shame, authenticity and belonging to the general public through her popular Tedx talks, many books and television appearances. In this contemplative learning experience, we will weave Brown’s book together with Biblical texts, theological reflection, and some of the big questions many of us find ourselves facing these days, such as: What can we do to help? How do I find purpose for my life? In the face of the climate crisis, where is hope? How do we see and live God’s blessings and grace in complex and divisive times? How can we let go of our own agendas and truly feel the presence of God? What does it mean to be the church now and how do we do that?

The study will be offered twice:
  •  in person - on Thursdays at the Sunnsyide site, from 3:30 - 5 pm (in accordance with COVID-19 safety protocols)
  • on Zoom - on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 pm

The course starts October 28. Please contact Scott if you would like to participate in this learning opportunity.
